Why would I want to talk to a male counselling psychotherapist about my issues as a woman?

Why would you not want to talk to a man about your felt experience as a woman? I believe that it should be everyone’s choice as to whether they want to work with a male or female counselling psychotherapist. Only you will ever know what is right for you.

However, if you find yourself having strong adverse feelings towards the thought of working with a male psychotherapist – perhaps this is indicating some issue which centres around your relationship with men or indeed a particular man. (I believe the converse to be true for men who may have an issue working with a female psychotherapist).

Over the years, I have worked with many women, some who specifically looked for a male psychotherapist. Other women, who despite some earlier personal reservations found themselves responding effectively and positively to the strong, yet gentle male energy present in the counselling psychotherapeutic space.

If you would like to get help from me at Walk Inniú with your feelings around any female related issues please feel free to make contact by phone, text or email.
