To be human is to be a sexual being. We are our sexuality. If we have issues of a sexual nature, these will affect us at the most intimate and personal level.
According to the World Health Organisation, our sexuality is central to our humanity. They advise us that the term sexuality refers to and includes many aspects such as sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender roles, intimacy, eroticism, pleasure and reproduction.
Sexuality is an ‘ever-constant’ in our entire lives. Yet, for many of us we only notice it if we are experiencing difficulties. Many people, in an attempt to cope or manage will often try to mask or contain issues of a sexual nature, but this repression or denial may result in the perceived concern ‘spilling over’ and affecting other areas of their lives.
Sexuality is omnipresent in nature – it is all around us. Ecotherapy is mindful of this and informs and inspires the counselling psychotherapy I provide at Walk Inniú. This in turn creates a safe, secure and confidential space in which to speak about any issues relating to your sexuality which may be troubling you.
